Every Sound, Every Position

In each winter speech articulation craft, there is a page containing 12 target sounds on themed items. There is a corresponding sound page for the initial, medial, final, and mixed positions. Print your student’s target sound to complete the craft.

Every craft includes the following speech sounds: /p/, /b/, /m/, /n/, /w/, /h/, /t/, /d/, /k/, /g/, /s/, /z/, /f/, /v/, /sh/, /ch/, /th/, /j/, /l/, /r/, /air/, /ar/, /ear/, /er/, /ire/, /or/, /sw/, /sm/, /sp/, /sn/, /st/, /sl/, /sk/, /bl/, /kl/, /fl/, /gl/, /pl/, /sl/, /br/, /kr/, /dr/, /fr/, /gr/, /pr/, /tr/.

All sounds have a mixed positions page, but the following sounds are included in the initial, medial, and final positions as well: /p/, /b/, /m/, /n/, /w/, /h/, /t/, /d/, /k/, /g/, /s/, /z/, /f/, /v/, /sh/, /ch/, /th/, /j/, /l/.

Print this Winter Snow Globe Speech Articulation Craft to target every sound in every position. Students will color, cut, and paste snowflakes to fill snow globes while practicing sounds.

Phonological Processes

While there is a specific page for each individual sound, phonological process errors can be targeted with these crafts as well. Use the mixed pages to target a phonological pattern during your winter speech sessions. For example, print the mixed /k/ or /g/ pages to work on fronting or mixed /l/ blends page to improve gliding. Or print individual sounds to target early developmental sound such as /p/, /b/, /t/, and /d/.

Print this Winter Ice Hockey Speech Articulation Craft to target a variety of phonological processes including fronting, stopping, final consonant deletion, and more. Students will enjoy creating their own ice hockey scene to practice their speech goals at home too!

/S/ Blends

These winter speech crafts include all of the /s/ blends in isolation as well as a mixed page of all blends. Targeting individual blends has many benefits as students cycle through errors. These specific sound pages are great to improve cluster reduction. Print and use the mixed /s/ blends page to eliminate cluster reduction too!

Use our Winter Snowball Speech Therapy Craft to cut and paste a variety of snowballs onto a winter background. Best part? Use each snowball to further target /s/ blends during your sessions!

Digraphs

While having resources for early developmental sounds and phonological processes is key, you may need some later developing sounds for your old speech students. All of our winter speech articulation crafts include those tricky digraphs. Target initial, final, and medial /th/, /sh/, and /ch/ while completing an easy craft for take home practice.

Print the Winter Activities Speech Articulation Craft to help your older speech students work on their digraphs while making a fun winter scene. Lots of winter vocabulary and actions to label and describe as well!

Vocalic /R/

Ugh. That /r/. We know…it can be so daunting sometimes! So to help you tackle some effective /r/ therapy, we have included all individual /r/ sounds plus /r/ blends. Can’t get a stimulable vocalic /r/? Don’t stress. Just print a variety of the included /r/ sounds to probe stimulability as well as carry-over of sound production.

Have your students complete the Winter Sledding Speech Articulation Craft to build confidence in their /r/ production and help you hear where their toughest errors are!

Blank Page

Lastly, all of our speech therapy crafts include a blank page to allow you to target any additional error you may encounter. We even like using these blank pages to incorporate language goals into our mixed therapy sessions. Check out how we use these extra blank pages here!

We have some cute penguins to help you target whatever speech and language skill with our Winter Penguins Speech Articulation Craft. So versatile and can work for so many different goal areas! Did we mention cute too? 😉
