Buzzing Bees

First up, we have all things BEES! We love the book Please Please The Bees by Gerald Kelley. This sweet story is all about a bear that takes his honey for granted when the local bees go on strike. The bear makes changes to improve quality of life for the hard working bees so all are happy. Great book for targeting perspective taking and discussing what it means to be a part of a community.

Check out Rashida Jones reading this buzzing story below!

To go along with the bear and bees, we have a Spring Buzzing Bees Speech Articulation Craft to target every sound in every position. Have your students color and cut out their bees while practicing their target sound. When gluing each bee on or around the hive, have students produce their target words again! Such a simple spring themed craft.

Butterfly Garden

Spread your wings and fly while listening to Gotta Go Gotta Go by Sam Swope and making a beautiful butterfly garden speech craft. This story is such a cute story about a caterpillar’s journey to warmer weather to become a butterfly. Perfect book to target sequencing and cause and effect.

Tweet, tweet! The robins are out and about here in the Midwest. So naturally we have a story called Nesting by Henry Cole to discuss all things spring! Students will learn all about a mother robin’s preparation for her spring babies. You will be able to target a variety of WH plus how questions while reading this story aloud.

Have your speech students bust out their robin’s egg blue to complete this Spring Bird Nest Speech Articulation Craft. Once they have completed the craft while practicing their target sounds, you can decorate your speech bulletin boards for spring. Planting Seeds

One of my favorite books during the spring is The Tiny Seed by Eric Carle. I remember reading this story as a little kid and loving the illustrations. And of course, you have to cheer on the littlest seed! This book is helpful when targeting sequencing, predicting, and inferencing during your language sessions.

Next up, your speech students can practice their sounds while planting their own seeds. While these seeds may not be the smallest, they do containing s-blends, l-blends, and r-blends making for a very productive speech session.
