Happy Hanukkah! My family loves hearing all about Mandy and her family’s Hanukkah traditions! So to keep the discussion and learning going, Mandy has created several easy, no prep activities jammed packed with holiday vocabulary to share with all of you. We have rounded up the 5 best Hanukkah speech & language activities to help you celebrate this season.

Hanukkah Menorah Speech Articulation Craft
First up, we have an engaging and effective Hanukkah Menorah Speech Articulation Craft for your students. All you need are the corresponding target sound pictures plus the menorah background page. Then grab scissors, glue, and crayons!

The craft craft includes the following speech sounds in every position and mixed: /p/, /b/, /m/, /n/, /w/, /h/, /t/, /d/, /k/, /g/, /s/, /z/, /f/, /v/, /sh/, /ch/, /th/, /j/, /l/, /r/, /air/, /ar/, /ear/, /er/, /ire/, /or/, /sw/, /sm/, /sp/, /sn/, /st/, /sl/, /sk/, /bl/, /kl/, /fl/, /gl/, /pl/, /sl/, /br/, /kr/, /dr/, /fr/, /gr/, /pr/, /tr/. And there are 12 target sounds per page!
Color the menorah background first. Find the correct page of target words you need and have students color. Cut out the candles and paste them on the menorah. Practice each target word throughout the entire craft. A colored copy of the menorah and candles are provided for reinforcers in therapy sessions.

Your students will have multiple opportunities to practice their target sound plus have a beautiful Hanukkah themed picture to take home for additional carry-over practice!

Lastly, use the no-prep black and white coloring page to send as homework or use during a session to review the Hanukkah vocabulary concepts. Hanukkah Dreidel Game
One of Mandy’s family traditions is playing the dreidel game with golden chocolate coins called gelt. My boys loved playing this game at home too! This was a super easy and fun way to experience the excitement of this holiday and include all ages.

During your speech and language sessions, use plastic coins if food items are not allowed. Have students take turns spinning the dreidel then counting out their winnings. But watch out! Sometimes a student may roll a “Nun” meaning not to take any earnings!

This is a great Hanukkah activity to practice all, none, number identification, rote counting, turn-taking, and more!
Hanukkah Speech Therapy Scavenger Hunt
We LOVE this next Hanukkah activity for so many reasons! Check out this Hanukkah Speech Therapy Scavenger Hunt Activity.
First, our students really enjoy hunting for Hanukkah themed vocabulary words throughout the speech room or within a sensory bin. Ideal for those high energy groups!

Second, we like the fact that our students don’t realize they are even working when they match the cards to their target sounds. After they find a vocabulary word, they can match it to the corresponding speech sound on their coloring page. Practice each target word while coloring.

Lastly, this Hanukkah speech AND language activity is really just that! A perfect combo for those mixed speech and language sessions.
